Synopsys buys ExpertIO Inc.
Design software maker Synopsys Inc. bought ExpertIO Inc. Mountain View-based Synopsys (NASDAQ: SNPS) didn’t give a price or other details in this deal. San Jose-based ExpertIO makes software used in testing and debugging electronics in storage and networking devices. Craig Stoops, who once worked for International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM), started ExpertIO and was its CEO. He will be taking a job at Synopsys. ExpertIO was already working with Synopsys as a partner. Synopsys makes electronic design automation software used to design, make and test semiconductors.

Athleta is on the move. The Gap-owned women's activewear brand has identified the next four cities where it will open stores in 2012: Boston, Chicago, Denver and Houston. Stanford Hospital & Clinics has named Margaret Vosburgh as its new chief operating officer, effective Feb. 13, the academic medical center said Monday.
