Arizona Attorney General Thomas Horne is asking a state court to block a provision in some of Bank of America’s settlements with troubled home owners that calls for them to keep the details secret and not disparage the bank.
Arizona officials say that the the provision is hindering its investigation into Bank of America and its predecessor Countrywide Financial, which BofA (NYSE: BAC) purchased in 2008.

IPO market swings up as Facebook loomsThe U.S. market for initial public offerings appears to be in the midst of a recovery as Facebook reportedly prepares to register for its own debut next week, according to Renaissance Capital. The FTSE Renaissance US IPO Index has run up 10.4 percent year-to-date, more than double the S&P 500's 4.8% return. That is a good sign, according to Renaissance, for the "historically large backlog of companies waiting to go public," which includes 217 companies hoping to raise $50 billion, 54 of them technology companies... The other day Kaiser Permanente put out a press release announcing that “9 million Kaiser Permanente patients now can easily access their own medical information anywhere in the world on mobile devices through a mobile-optimized website.”
And trillions – well, lots, anyway – of news, tech and news tech sites picked it up and ran with it. But the reality is a bit less heady.
Not to knock the reality. It’s cool that Kaiser is introducing apps, including one last summer that helps its enrollees/patients – otherwise known as consumers, or even just people – locate the nearest or most convenient Kaiser facility and find their way there...
WSJ: Facebook plans to file IPO documents Wednesday
The Wall Street Journal reports that Facebook Inc. plans to file papers for its initial public offering as early as Wednesday.
Palo Alto-based Facebook’s IPO has been hotly anticipated, and it could raise up to $10 billion.
The Journal did not name its sources, but said the IPO could value Facebook at between $75 billion and $100 billion.
Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs would likely underwrite the deal, the report said.
Mark Zuckerberg, who started Facebook while a student at Harvard University, is its CEO.
New Resource Bank raises $7.7M in oversubscribed offering
San Francisco-based New Resource Bank said it raised $7.7 million in an offering that was oversubscribed by 10 percent.
The bank sold 1.75 million shares for $4.40 each, bringing total shares outstanding to 5.57 million.
“At a time like this, when banking is so challenged, this funding is a huge vote of confidence in the success of the bank,” said Mark Finser, chairman of $161 million New Resource Bank. The bank’s president and CEO is Vincent Siciliano, who was featured in a 2010 San Francisco Business Times executive profile...
