Calif doctor suffocated in boyfriend's chimney

The coroner says a Central California doctor whose decomposing body was found in the chimney of her boyfriend's house died of asphyxiation. Kern County Sheriff-Coroner spokesman Ray Pruitt says Dr. Jacquelyn Kotarac was unable to breathe in the narrow chimney where she was lodged after apparently trying to get into the Bakersfield home.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs is opening a music-themed event in San Francisco with a nod to a co-founder, Steve Wozniak. Jobs appeared in a crewneck rather than his trademark mock turtleneck as he announced new Apple Inc. stores abroad.

Dead suspect may be linked to 4 slayings in Calif.

Police found two more bodies Wednesday that they believe are linked to a California man who led officers on a high-speed chase with his dead girlfriend in the passenger seat. Efren Valdemoro, 38, was shot and killed by California Highway Patrol officers Tuesday night after refusing to drop a large knife when the chase ended in a Richmond strip mall, police said. He was wanted in the death of a 73-year-old man last weekend.
